Introduction

Small-Section Steel covers a family of light structural and precision profiles - thin-walled hollow sections, small I/HE sections, light channels, angles, flats, small square/rectangular tubes and precision cold-drawn bars. These sections are optimized for low-weight frameworks, furniture, light machinery, architectural trims and general fabrication where tight tolerances, good finish and easy fabrication are important.


Typical Materials & Manufacture

Materials: Cold-rolled / hot-rolled mild carbon steels (e.g., S235/A36), low-alloy steels (S355/A572), 304/316 stainless, and sometimes aluminum alloys for lightweight needs.

Manufacture: Cold roll forming, ERW/SSAW welded tube, seamless cold-drawn tube, hot-rolled small profiles, and precision grinding for bars.

Common Forms: Small square/rectangular tube, Ø15–Ø100 mm round tube, small I/C sections, light channels, equal/unequal angles, flat bars and precision round/square bars.


Typical Dimensions & Tolerances

Outside dimensions (tube): 10 × 10 mm → 100 × 100 mm (square/rectangular); Ø8 → Ø100 mm (round).

Wall thickness: 0.6 → 6.0 mm (typical).

Flat bars / angles: widths 10 → 150 mm, thickness 1 → 10 mm.

Lengths: standard 3 m, 6 m, 12 m; cut-to-length available.

Tolerances: ±0.1–0.5 mm (cold-formed/precision); hot-rolled tolerances wider per standard.


Mechanical Properties (typical)

Yield strength: 235–355 MPa (grade dependent).

Tensile strength: 360–550 MPa.

Elongation: ≥ 10–25% (depends on grade and process).

Finish: mill, pickled & oiled, bright cold-drawn, galvanized, powder-coated or painted.
